FORTUNE FAVOURS THE BOLD

Investor's birth house that was last reconstructed nearly half a century ago contained, at the time, only a small bathroom and three bedrooms. As the family grew and summer vacation became more frequent, there came a need for a thorough refurbishment of the house.

The main attraction of the house is an inner yard with a fireplace and dining space under a stone bolted ceiling - a former donkey pen. The ground floor contains a living room, in the space that was originally used as a cellar, and a former water storage was turned into a small bathroom. On each of the upper three storeys, there is a bedroom with separate bathrooms, and the first floor has access to a terrace with a magnificent view of the Bay of Vis. All floors are interconnected with a boldly constructed spiral staircase that makes for a visual accent of the whole interior. The entire house is pervaded with light, natural materials and the interior is enriched by the combination of modern and traditional furniture and furnishings.

The entire project was done in record time and proves that with a bit of luck and courage, you can get fantastic results with a minimal budget.
